Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has demanded a detailed explanation from Seoul over the recent drone incursion into Pyongyang.

She insisted that the drones from South Korea had clearly violated North Korean airspace. Kim's response came after South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-bak denied allegations that their military was involved in the incident.

In a statement carried by North Korea's official KCNA news agency, Kim Yo-jong said the South Korean military had made a wise decision by officially denying responsibility for the provocation. However, it is not enough to simply deny it, but to explain the real reason why a drone crossed the southern border and entered the Republic of North Korea.

Kim claimed that footage from the recovered drone showed a uranium mine, the now-closed Kaesong Joint Industrial Complex and the North Korean border guard station. Kim Yo Jong warned that if South Korea takes such provocative steps again in the future, they will face dire consequences.

She also warned that if Seoul tries to evade responsibility by claiming it was the work of a civilian organization, North Korean civilian organizations will also start sending numerous drones into South Korean skies.

Meanwhile, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is reported to have ordered an investigation into the alleged drone intrusion into North Korean airspace on Saturday (January 10).
