Abahani players celebrate after scoring a goal.

Despite losing in the first Dhaka derby of the season, Dhaka Abahani Limited bounced back in the next match. The blue jersey holders returned to winning ways by defeating Bangladesh Police FC 2-0.

Abahani showed dominance from the start in this match held at the Bhasha Sainik Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla on Friday (November 28). Although they were reduced to a team of 10 towards the end of the match, the victory was already assured for the hosts.

Abahani coach Maruful Haque made two changes to the XI that day. He brought in Papon Singha in place of Ibrahim Hossain and Enamul Islam Gazi in place of Bruno Matos. This change worked in the 25th minute. Abahani forward Suleman Diabate was fouled in the D-box and won a penalty. He scored from a spot-kick to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Then, in the 43rd minute, Abahani doubled the lead through Gazi's foot. Midfielder Enamul Islam Gazi scored a wonderful volley from Sheikh Morsalin's curved free-kick. Abahani went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Despite trying to turn around after the break, Police FC could not break Abahani's defense. Abahani's Alamgir Molla left the field in the first minute of added time after the 90 minutes of the match ended. However, even though they were reduced to a 10-man team, it did not affect Abahani's victory.

With this win, Dhaka Abahani has risen to sixth in the table with 4 points from 4 matches. Bangladesh Police FC is in fifth place with one point more in the same number of matches.
