Ahmedabad Test: India scores three centuries

India scored three centuries in a single day. After opener Lokesh Rahul, wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel and spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries. The hosts scored a mountain of runs in the first innings against the West Indies in the Ahmedabad Test.
India's total at the end of the second day of the first Test of the two-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday (October 3). The visitors were all out for just 162 runs in the first innings, leaving Shubman Gill's India ahead by 286 runs.
India had finished the previous day with 121 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Rahul started the second day with 51 and Gill with 18 runs. Gill was dismissed for 50 runs off 100 balls with 5 fours. After 10 overs, Rahul departed for 197 runs off 12 fours and 100 runs off 10 overs.
Then Jurel and Jadeja put on a big partnership of 206 runs. Jurel, who got a chance in the team due to Rishabh Pant's injury, left the field after scoring the first century of his Test career. He scored 125 runs off 210 balls with 15 fours and 3 sixes. Jadeja also scored a century. He ended the day unbeaten on 104 runs off 176 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. His other unbeaten partner Washington Sundar scored 9 runs off 13 balls.
For the Caribbean, Khary Pierre, Jomel Warrickan and Jayden Sills took 2 and 1 wickets each.
Earlier, the West Indies were bowled out for just 162 runs after winning the toss and opting to bat the previous day by Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Justin Greaves played the highest innings of 32 runs for the team. In addition, Shai Hope scored 26 and Roston Chase scored 24 runs. Siraj took 4 wickets and Bumrah took 3 wickets.
India have increased their margin of victory by the end of the second day. Barring any major drama, it will be difficult for the Windies to avoid an innings defeat in this match. The two teams will face each other in the second and final Test of the series in Delhi on October 10.
