Actress Samar Rana arrested in rape, torture of domestic worker

Pakistani police arrested stage actor Samar Rana on charges of allegedly torturing and facilitating the sexual assault of her 14-year-old domestic worker.

According to Lahore police, the victim accused five unidentified men of raping her at the actor’s residence, while Rana allegedly subjected her to physical abuse.

The Nawab Town police registered a case and apprehended the actor. Officials said efforts are underway to arrest the other suspects involved.

In 2022, Samar Rana was arrested in Lahore on fraud charges after the Lahore High Court canceled her bail, authorities Wednesday.

Police from Iqbal Town took her into custody and shifted her to the women’s cell at Lytton Road Police Station.

According to local media reports, Rana is accused of defrauding a citizen of Rs2.6 million in a property deal. She allegedly received payment but refused to vacate the house despite repeated notices.

Reports further suggest that the actor has a history of fraud cases and has previously been booked in multiple similar incidents.
