Veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi and legendary poet, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar have been together for over four decades. Recently, in a special interview, she took part in a very candid discussion about their married life. Actress Shabana Azmi also spoke about the equation of her relationship with Javed's first wife Honey Irani after marriage.

Shabana Azmi's explosive comments on her married life with Javed Akhtar! As perfect as their relationship looks from the outside, is it really like that in reality - and like the five couples, don't they also have arguments or fights?

Talking about how she was attracted to Javed Akhtar, veteran actress Shabana Azmi said, "The poet-writer's intelligence and sense of humor attracted me the most. Of all the people I have met so far, Javed seemed to me to be the most intelligent."

He said, "I found a lot of similarities between my father (Kaifi Azmi) and Javed. When I discovered Javed, I felt like I was rediscovering my father. The family background of both of them is also similar. My parents were progressive writers and were associated with the Communist Party, and loved Urdu poetry."

Shabana Azmi, speaking about their 40-plus years of marriage, said, "We have a lot of arguments. It's not like everything always runs smoothly. But the foundation of our friendship is very strong and we have the same worldview or political and social ideals. I think that's one of the most important things to sustain any relationship."

Earlier, actress Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar did not face less controversy when they tied the knot in 1984. Because at that time, Javed Akhtar was married to screenwriter Honey Irani and they had two children (Farhan and Zoya Akhtar). Regarding how a healthy family relationship was formed by forgetting old wounds and insults, Shabana said, Honey is a member of our family. Honey never instilled jealousy or hatred in the minds of her children about her 'stepmother' Shabana. Because of this generous attitude, the entire family is still united.
