Leaving America wasn’t easy at all: Meghan Markle

Former American actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, heir to the British royal family, got married in 2018. They renounced the crown of the British royal family in 2020. Since then, they have been living in the United States with their two children, Lilibet and Archie. Recently, in August 2026, they left California with their children and started living in the United Kingdom. Samaa TV reported.

A source close to Meghan said that moving from America was not easy for them. They have many memories of Montecito, California. They have shared emotional memories of the Montecito house. They said that this was the first house they bought after leaving the royal family. They consider it their safe haven. 

The days spent in Montecito were the best moments of Megan's life.

According to the Sama TV website, the California home was special to them; it was hard to leave. She will miss her Montecito moments. This is where Meghan and Harry's daughter Lilibet was born and learned to walk for the first time. She also loved watching Archie's hummingbirds or having breakfast with her family on the balcony. 

Meghan recalled a memory of Harry, who, while looking around the house, noticed two palm trees in the garden that were connected to each other. She hugged Harry and said, "My love, this is just like us." Meghan added that their children now say, "Hi Mama, Hi Papa" when they pass by it. 

The couple may return to the United States again

The couple moved to the Cotswolds region of the UK primarily for their children's education, but they haven't completely left the US. They may return there in the future. 

Harry's experience in the UK

A royal source has described the couple's new plans as an "English Countryside Dream". Their decision is said to give Harry a new experience. He will live in the UK as a private citizen, not as a member of the royal family. The couple said they are starting a new life in the UK, with the memories of their Montecito, California home in their heart.
