South Indian star Yash's much-awaited film 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups' has crossed another major milestone at the global box office. However, since its huge opening, the film's daily earnings have started declining gradually.
The film, which hit the theatres to mixed reviews and directed by Geetu Mohandas, has entered the Rs 250 crore club worldwide.
According to SackNilk.com, 'Toxic' has earned an estimated Rs 24.50 crore nett in India on its fourth day of release, Saturday (August 29). The film was screened in 17,612 shows across India on that day. With this, the film's total nett collection in India stood at Rs 190.45 crore after the first four days.
Although the film had a blockbuster opening at the box office on the day of its release and earned around Rs 101.10 crore nett in India. However, its earnings declined slightly in the following days. The film collected around Rs 37.65 crore on the second day and Rs 26.60 crore on the third day. The film's daily business continued to decline with a further Rs 24.50 crore on the fourth day.
Despite this decline, 'Toxic' has managed to maintain a hefty collection from the theatres in the first four days of its release. According to the latest estimates, the film's total gross collection in India is currently Rs 227.50 crore.
It is worth noting that despite receiving mixed reviews, 'Toxic' was able to attract a huge audience on the first day, which highlights its commercial importance.
The film also performed well in the international market. 'Toxic' grossed an estimated Rs 4 crore from the international market on the fourth day, taking the film's total earnings outside India to Rs 27.25 crore.
The film's estimated worldwide total earnings in the four days of its release, including domestic and international earnings, has reached Rs 254.75 crore. This means that the Yash-starrer crossed the Rs 250 crore mark worldwide in its first week of release.
Despite the constant decline in the Indian market, this milestone has given the film some relief. However, the next few days are going to be very important. For a film that started its journey with a net collection of more than Rs 100 crore in India, it is very important for it to maintain the interest of the audience after the opening day.
Yash plays a dual role in the film 'Toxic' directed by Geetu Mohandas. Kiara Advani, Nayantara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasantha play other important roles.
Set in the backdrop of Goa, India during the Portuguese colonial period, the story of this film revolves around a gangster and his rise and fall after gaining power.
