Bollywood's legendary actress and 'Dream Girl' Hema Malini has said that the current style of filmmaking has changed a lot compared to before. She no longer acts in films regularly because it is difficult to adapt to that changed environment.
In a recent interview with 'Zoom', she shared her long acting career and various memories of the golden age of Bollywood.
Hema Malini said that the 1970s and 1980s were the golden age of Indian cinema. During that time, many quality films were made, especially the number of films with female-led storylines was very high. She considers it her good fortune to have the opportunity to act in these films.
She said that it was a completely different time. I consider myself lucky because I was able to be a part of that golden age. I have acted in many memorable films including 'Sita Aur Geeta', 'Sapno Ka Saudagar', 'Khushboo'. Looking back now, I have worked in about 200 films. At that time, most producers used to cast me in their films repeatedly. Each film had five-six songs and popular songs were an important part of the success of a film.
Regarding current films, he said, "Now the way of making films has completely changed. Many people want to know why I am no longer working. In fact, it is very difficult for me to adapt to this current way of working."
Hema Malini made her Bollywood debut in 1968 with the film 'Sapno Ka Saudagar'. After that, she established a permanent place in Indian cinema by acting in several popular and timeless films like 'Sholay', 'Sita Aur Geeta', 'Dream Girl', 'Satte Pe Satta' and 'Bagbaan'. She was last seen in the film 'Shimla Mirchi' in 2020.
