Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film 'Queen 2' has been in major legal trouble before its release. The film has been accused of intellectual property infringement before its release. The production company 'Phantom Studios' has now approached the court to block the release of the film. They have already filed a compensation case of Rs 250 crore against 'Giostar' in the Mumbai High Court. Phantom Studios claims that the sequel to the film 'Queen' was made illegally without their permission.

According to media reports, the shooting of the film 'Queen 2' started earlier this year under the direction of director Vikas Bahl. The camera of the film has recently been closed and it is currently undergoing post-production work. And after this news of the completion of the shooting came to light, Phantom Studios took the final decision to enter into a legal battle.

Sources close to the company told the media that attempts were made to contact Geostar and director Vikas Bahl several times before approaching the court regarding the matter. Phantom Studios expressed their objections. Even a legal notice was issued publicly. But no positive response was received from them.

Finally, Phantom Studios was forced to choose the path of the mother.

Phantom Studios claims that they still own 50 percent of the intellectual property of the movie 'Queen'. Because of that legal right, they are a partner in any decision regarding the sequel of this movie. In April this year, the company clearly stated in a notification that they have not given permission to anyone to make any sequel or new adaptation based on 'Queen'.

It is worth noting that the movie 'Queen', released in 2014, took the box office by storm and received huge praise from the audience and critics. The movie also bagged two National Film Awards that year, in which Kangana Ranaut won the Best Actress award. At that time, the film was co-produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Phantom Films.

Phantom Films was founded by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl. Although the company was closed down in 2018, it was relaunched in 2021 as Phantom Studios.
