Container ship attacked in Hormuz, crew take refuge in lifeboats

The entire crew of a container ship that was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz has abandoned the ship and taken refuge in lifeboats. One civilian is missing in the attack, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it received this information from military authorities and security officials from the ship's operating company. Al Jazeera reported

Earlier, CENTCOM claimed that the Cyprus-flagged container ship M/V GFS Galaxy was attacked by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to CENTCOM, one civilian sailor is missing in the attack. In addition, the ship caught fire and suffered severe damage to its engine room, preventing it from continuing its journey.

However, there was no immediate comment from Iran on the attack.
