Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has commented that oppression and fascism have been imposed on the people of the country for the past 54 years. He said, "Our territory will not change in the new Bangladesh, our character and outlook will change. The outlook with which the country has been run for the past 54 years has been oppressed in most cases, with a few exceptions. Fascism has been imposed."
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of Jamaat's election digital campaign in Mirpur in the capital on Thursday (January 29).
Jamaat's Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain, Central Working Committee member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Nayeb Amir Abdur Rahman Musa, Central Vice President of the Workers' Welfare Federation Laskar Md. Taslim, former central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Rajibur Rahman Palash, member of Jamaat's National Election Steering Committee Professor Saifullah Mansur and local Jamaat leaders.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "We want a corruption-free, discrimination-free society. We want a safe country for our children, common people and mothers and sisters. We want to hand over work to the youth. We all want to take the country forward in the coming days."
He said, "Mirpur and Kafrul areas have been plagued by terrorism for a long time. I pray that Allah will hand over power to those through whom it is possible to establish peace in this area." Later, he announced the inauguration of Jamaat-e-Islami's digital campaign buses and other vehicles after seeking the prayers of the countrymen.
At that time, Jamaat Ameer said, "If we can be elected with the prayers, love and support of the countrymen, then we want to be servants, not rulers of the people. We want to deliver what is due and right to everyone. We want to build a responsible Bangladesh."
