Another new platform is going to join the field of politics. This new initiative, led by student leaders with a promise of reforming a society and economic structure without discrimination, will be formally launched at the Central Shaheed Minar on Friday (January 16) afternoon.
In the last 17 months, several political platforms including the National Citizens Committee, AAP Bangladesh, and Inquilab Manch have emerged with the promise of doing something new in post-August 5 politics. In that vein, a new political platform is being added, led by a left student leader and some young people who left the NCP.
Student leader Anik Roy told Channel 24 that no movement, be it 71 or 24, can be called successful in the true sense if the quality of life of the people does not improve. According to him, to ensure the success of the two movements in Bangladesh, it is necessary to eliminate economic inequality. This new political journey is based on that goal. Nazifa Jannat, coordinator of the July Movement, said that after a long period of discussion and exchange of views, everyone has decided to form a new political platform.
The new platform will be officially announced at the Central Shaheed Minar on Friday, January 16. Its manifesto and organizational model will be released on the same day. Student leaders associated with the initiative claim that the structure of this organization will be different and innovative.
Anik Roy said that they want to launch an organizational model that is rarely seen in Bangladesh or South Asia. A joint leadership-based structure like the new political parties formed in various countries including Europe will be followed, so that the party does not focus on a single individual and ensures the participation of everyone.
To the question of how much role can different political parties and new initiatives play in implementing the aspirations of the people? He said that they do not want a state-controlled economy or complete capitalism. Rather, their goal is to build a balanced structure between business and the role of the state, where the state will prioritize some sectors.
Nazifa Jannat said that they want to prove themselves through work without making overly ambitious promises at the beginning. They expect that the new platform will spread through word of mouth.
Leaders associated with the initiative said they are optimistic about emerging as a full-fledged political party within the next year.
