Sending a direct message to Iran, US President Donald Trump has said that he does not want to attack Tehran. At the same time, he has also called on Iran to show restraint amid regional tensions. This information has come to light in the statement of the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan. In the meantime, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have called for emphasis on diplomatic initiatives and dialogue to defuse the ongoing tensions.
According to Al Jazeera, President Donald Trump has informed Iran that he has no plans to attack the country. At the same time, he has requested Tehran to show restraint in the regional situation. This information was given by the Pakistani newspaper The Dawn, according to the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam.
The Iranian ambassador said that he received this information around 1 am Pakistan time on Wednesday. The message made it clear that Trump does not want war and that Iran should not carry out any attack on US interests in the region.
Moghaddam also said that the Iranian people have the right to peaceful protest and that the government is in talks with the protesters. However, he noted that at the same time, some armed groups have carried out killings and even attacked mosques.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Araghchi pledged to take a "firm" stance in protecting Iran's borders.
In the call, the Saudi foreign minister expressed concern about the consequences of any potential escalation. At the same time, he stressed the importance of diplomacy and regional cooperation to maintain regional stability.
Turkey, on the other hand, has called for dialogue on the situation in Iran and opposed any military intervention. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told reporters in Istanbul that the crisis must be resolved through dialogue.
He said that both the United States and Iran can resolve this issue through mediation or direct negotiations if they wish. He also said that Türkiye is closely monitoring the entire situation.
