Politicians have the responsibility to build public trust in politicians, said BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. He made this comment at a dialogue of the Citizen Platform titled National Election 2026 and Citizen Expectations at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Tuesday (January 13) afternoon.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that it is true that people have low trust in politics. Politicians have to restore this trust. This has to be done through accountability.
He said that in the future Bangladesh, those who cannot grasp the issue of accountability and public aspirations will have no political future. If accountability can be ensured, reforms will happen automatically.
This BNP Standing Committee member said that the role of civil society is important in maintaining a democratic environment. If they are not allowed to work, dictatorship is born. No government alone can provide any solution. There is a matter of partnership in implementation. If BNP comes to power, it will solve the problem with the private sector, civil society, and NGOs.
