The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a special program nationwide in the month of victory, December.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a special program nationwide in the month of victory, December. The party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan on Saturday (November 29) afternoon.

As part of the special program titled 'Bijoy Mashal Road Show in the Month of Victory', a countrywide Bijoy Mashal road show and rally will be held from December 1 to 16. During this period, the Bijoy Mashal will visit all the divisions of the country and reach Dhaka on December 16. Later, BNP will hold a grand rally at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka on the same day.

In this regard, the BNP Secretary General said at the press conference that the people deprived of democratic rights have been oppressed by the fascist rule and exploitation for more than a decade and a half. Due to the continuous anti-fascist movement and struggle, the country was finally free from fascism in 2024, in exchange for the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs. The joy of victory in fascism-free Bangladesh has added a different dimension to the democracy-loving, freedom-loving countrymen. To make this joyful occasion of the victory of the country and the people more colorful, joyful and meaningful, this time too, BNP has taken up a month-long program including discussion meetings and victory road shows to celebrate the 55th great Victory Day of glory across the country.

Giving details of the 'Vijay Mase Bijoy Moshal Road Show' program, Mirza Fakhrul said that the then Major Ziaur Rahman had declared independence from the Kalur Ghat radio station in Chittagong in March 1971. Therefore, Kalur Ghat is an inevitable part of our independence and liberation war. BNP's 'Vijay Mase' celebration program will start from this historic Kalur Ghat radio station.

He said, on December 1, the Bijoy Mashal Yatra will start from Kalur Ghat Betar Kendra in Chittagong, a historical place intertwined with the history of the country's independence and liberation war. The torch procession will start from Kalur Ghat Betar Kendra and reach Biplob Udyan in Chittagong on the same day. The torch of the Bijoy Mashal Yatra will be carried by a prominent freedom fighter of 1971 and a July fighter of 2014. We believe that the 1971 Liberation War was about achieving the country's independence, and 2024 is about protecting the independence of the country and the people.

The BNP Secretary General said, starting from Chittagong on December 1, Bijoy Mashal road shows and rallies will be held in Comilla, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Bogra, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Faridpur in phases. In each division, the torch will be carried by a prominent freedom fighter of the relevant division and a July fighter.

During this two-week special 'road show', various departments will visit historical places associated with the memories of the independence and liberation war, perform the national anthem, liberation war songs, patriotic songs, broadcast selected parts of the speeches of the independence proclaimer martyr President Ziaur Rahman, Mother of Democracy Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and perform cultural programs and documentaries. At the same time, BNP's 31-point program to build a safe, prosperous and democratic Bangladesh will be presented to the people. And the theme song of BNP in this entire event is 'Bangladesh First'.

The Victory Torch, which has traveled all the departments of the country, will finally reach Dhaka on December 16. The 'Victory Torch Road Show in the Month of Victory' will end with a grand gathering at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka on the same day. In addition, other programs will be celebrated along with this special program on the occasion of Victory Month.

Wishing the Victory Day at the press conference, Mirza Fakhrul said, since 1971 till today, millions of people have been martyred. In exchange for millions of lives, we have achieved the independent Bangladesh of 1971, the anti-hegemonic Bangladesh of 1975, the anti-dictatorship Bangladesh of 1990, and the anti-fascist Bangladesh of 2024. Why did so many people sacrifice their lives so selflessly at every turn of the country's history? What was the dream of the martyrs? May this Victory Day be a confirmation that Bangladesh will fulfill that dream of the martyrs. The national elections in February next year are a huge opportunity for the freedom-loving, democracy-loving people of the country to build the Bangladesh of the martyrs' dreams.
