The desire to escape from the rubble

A major accident has occurred after a six-story building collapsed in the Satya Niketan area of ​​the Indian capital Delhi. Students trapped under the rubble are calling on their mobile phones to be rescued. 

Local MLA Anil Sharma confirmed this after visiting the accident site. The collapsed building was originally a PG hostel near Delhi University, called 'Hostel Days'. Several rescued students have been admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The building suddenly collapsed around 1:30 pm on Sunday (September 6). 

MLA Anil Sharma expressed his deep sorrow and said that students who came from different parts of the country to study used to stay in this building. It is not clear exactly how many are trapped under the rubble, but whether it is five, ten or twenty, many are still trapped. 

However, the relief is that some students were able to call from inside. This indicates that they are alive. The government's main goal now is to get them all out safely.

Police said that some work had been going on in the basement of the collapsed building for some time. Locals believe that at least 15 people may have been trapped inside the building at the time of the incident. Twelve fire service vehicles, police, emergency medical services teams and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are working simultaneously in the rescue operation. Heavy equipment has been brought in to remove large concrete slabs and beams.

State Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Home Minister Ashish Sood have expressed deep concern over the incident. The administration said that all measures have been taken to evacuate the stranded students quickly and safely and the entire situation is being monitored round the clock.
