Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in 50 states of the United States

Bangladeshi expatriates in 50 states of the United States celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Fitr on the same day. All domestic Muslim communities across the United States participated in the holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers on Friday (March 20), local time.

This year, Eid congregations were organized by more than 3,000 mosques and Islamic centers in the United States. More than 3,000 Eid congregations were held in mosques and church halls in addition to open fields.

According to the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies, the number of mosques and Muslim religious educational institutions in the United States has increased by 31 percent in the last two decades. In 2000, the number of mosques in the United States was 1,209, the number of mosques increased to 2,106 in 2011, and the total number of mosques in the United States stood at 2,796 in the latest count in 2020.

Among them, New York State has the largest number of mosques with 343, California with 304, Texas with 224, Florida with 157, Illinois with 109 and New Jersey with 141.

On Friday, Eid congregations were held in Bangladeshi-run mosques, fields adjacent to mosques, park grounds and church minlaytans in various states. In areas where there are no mosques, Friday and Eid congregations have been held in church minlaytans for a long time.

Bangladeshi religious devotees have made preparations to hold Eid congregations in more than two hundred mosques or adjacent fields run by Bangladeshis across the United States. The congregations start at 8 am and continue in phases in the mosques until 9:30 am. The local administration is taking special steps for the security of the Eid congregation.

New York's big Eid congregation was held at the Jamaica Muslim Center. In addition, Eid congregations have been held in mosques and fields adjacent to mosques in almost all areas of Jamaica, including Jackson Heights, Bronx, Brooklyn, Ozone Park, Astoria, Manhattan.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Eid congregations have been held in various mosques and Islamic centers and more than 150 open fields in the populous and Bangladeshi-dominated states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, South Carolina, Washington and Kentucky.
