The Eid festival atmosphere is everywhere, and the movie 'Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka' directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud has added an extra dimension to that atmosphere. This movie, based on the shadow of the controversial underworld figure of the nineties, was the subject of intense curiosity among the audience even before its release.
According to information provided by BMR, although the movie is not showing at the country's popular multiplex chain Star Cineplex, it has started well in other theaters with e-ticketing facilities. 'Prince' is now at the center of discussion after collecting double-digit collections on the first day.
According to the available figures, a total of 31 shows of the movie were screened yesterday at Lion Cinemas (5 shows), Grand Sylhet Movie Theater (2 shows), Mon Inn (4 shows), Monihar Cineplex (4 shows), Madhuban Cineplex (4 shows), Shyamoli (4 shows), Cinescope (4 shows) and Grand Riverview Cineplex (4 shows).
Out of these 31 shows, 26 shows were completely 'housefull'. In addition, one show was almost full. At the end of the day, the total income of the movie stood at 16.19 lakh taka.
Produced by Shirin Sultana, this movie is not just about violence or action, but it is a deep narrative of the politics and crime world of Dhaka at that time in the screenplay by Mejbah Uddin Suman. Shakib Khan has taken a new turn in his career by breaking his familiar pattern and playing the role of Kala Jahangir.
Shot in diverse locations, the film stars Tasnia Farin opposite Shakib. Along with Jyotirmayee Kundu from Upper Bengal, it also stars powerful actors like Intekhab Dinar, Rashed Mamun Apu and Dr. Ejaz.
