Trump’s peace plan fails to deliver justice: Amnesty

Human rights group Amnesty International has strongly criticized the peace plan, which came after Hamas and Israel announced their agreement to implement the first phase of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza. According to the organization, President Donald Trump's plan is very weak and 'flawed' in ending two years of suffering for Palestinians in Gaza.
Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard made these comments on Thursday.
Callamard, calling the ceasefire announcement a 'belated step' after two years of suffering, said the deal 'will not erase' what Palestinians have endured. Israel's suffocating blockade on Gaza must be lifted immediately and humanitarian aid must be 'unhindered' in the besieged territory.
The Amnesty chief also said that for a sustainable ceasefire agreement to succeed, it must immediately end the Israeli genocide. At the same time, concrete steps must be taken to end Israel's illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories and dismantle the "apartheid system" there.
According to Callamard, the current plan fails to address these fundamental issues. She added that the plan fails to ensure justice and reparations for victims of atrocities or to hold perpetrators accountable.
