Led by Erling Haaland, Norway enjoyed one of the best campaigns in the country's football history before losing 2-1 to England after extra time in the quarter-finals.
The players celebrated with fans by performing their now-famous "Viking Row," a celebration that became a social media sensation throughout the tournament.
Crown Prince Haakon attended the reception and led the celebrations by beating a drum. He had also been present in Miami to support the team during the quarter-final against England.
Captain Martin Ødegaard thanked supporters for their overwhelming backing.
"It's incredible to see so many people here and to know the whole country is behind us. It's a fantastic feeling," he told Norwegian broadcaster NRK.
Haaland, who finished the World Cup with seven goals, returned to Norway on Monday morning but missed the reception due to a connecting flight. According to NRK, the Manchester City striker had to leave for another destination shortly after arriving.
