Brazil wary of Haaland threat ahead of Norway showdown

Five-time world champions Brazil face Norway in a crucial FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash on Sunday, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake. The biggest concern for the Seleção is containing Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, whose pace, power and finishing have made him one of the tournament's most dangerous attackers.
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged the challenge posed by the prolific forward but expressed confidence in his defenders' understanding of Haaland's game.
"Everyone knows Haaland," Ancelotti said. "I don't need to explain to my defenders how he plays. They probably know him even better than I do because they have faced him many times. But, of course, we have to respect his qualities because he is an extremely dangerous striker."
Midfielder Bruno Guimarães believes Brazil's best chance of neutralising Haaland is to prevent him from receiving the ball in dangerous areas.
"Our job is to make sure the ball doesn't reach him," Guimarães said. "We'll attack, but someone will always stay close to him so that he doesn't find space. We know he can decide a match with just one opportunity."
The Newcastle United midfielder also expects a physically demanding contest, highlighting Norway's aerial strength and effectiveness from set-pieces as key threats.
"They'll send plenty of balls into our penalty area and fight for every corner and free-kick as if it were a chance to score," he said. "We've worked hard throughout the week to deal with that. It's going to be a very difficult match."
With Haaland leading the line and Brazil aiming to keep their World Cup hopes alive, the Round of 16 encounter promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the knockout stage.
