The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet clarified its position on the T20 World Cup. Pakistan will confirm whether they will participate in the World Cup between Friday and Monday.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on January 26. After their meeting, it was learned that a final decision will be taken between Friday and Monday whether Pakistan will participate in the World Cup. Although Pakistan may not boycott the World Cup completely, it is considering not playing the India match, but that may be based on the situation.

According to a report by Telecom Asia Sport, India's match with Pakistan is on February 15. Before that, they will face the Netherlands and the United States in the group stage. If Salman Agar's team wins these two matches, then they will skip the India match. Their last match in the group is with Namibia. In that case, if India wins the first two matches, it will be easy for them to pass the group stage even if they do not play the match. The media outlet quoted a source as saying, “If Pakistan wins these two games, then the possibility of not playing the match against India will be strong.”

In addition, the PCB will write to the ICC seeking permission to hold a symbolic protest during the World Cup to express its dissatisfaction over Bangladesh’s exclusion. The same source said, “The Pakistan Cricket Board will write a written letter to the ICC seeking permission to hold a protest during the World Cup.”

However, if Pakistan boycotts the World Cup completely, it could face legal and financial complications. The same report said that the PCB’s legal advisors have warned against withdrawing from the matches, especially against India. Doing so could put Pakistan in danger of violating the broadcasting agreement.
