Shah Rukh Khan's team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has brought Bangladeshi star pacer Mustafizur Rahman to the team for a record Rs 9.2 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. However, the 'Bollywood King' has found himself in some danger by making such a decision amidst diplomatic tensions between Bangladesh and India.
A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh has attacked Shah Rukh Khan in strong language. The leader named Sangeet Som has directly called Shah Rukh a 'traitor'. At a public meeting in Meerut, Sangeet said, 'Traitorous actor Shah Rukh Khan bought Bangladeshi cricketer (Mustafizur) Rahman for Rs 9 crore. Such traitors have no right to stay in this country.'
He also said, 'The people of this country have brought you to this position. If you earn money, do it from this country. And you are betraying the country.' The BJP leader further warned, 'Players like Mustafiz will not be able to leave the airport when they come to India.' The new season of the IPL is scheduled to start in March. Spiritual guru Devkinandan Thakur has also criticized Shah Rukh Khan for including Mustafiz in the team. He has requested the KKR authorities not to play the Bangladeshi pacer even if he is included in the team.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Opposition Leader Mata Prasad Pandey has strongly criticized Sangeet for threatening Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from this, Congress leader Surendra Rajput has also strongly criticized the BJP and called the party 'anti-national'. He told NDTV, 'They are attacking Shah Rukh Khan just because he is a Muslim.' BJP's ally and Uttar Pradesh minister Om Prakash Rajbhar also criticized Sangeet Som's statement. He said that Sangeet makes such comments to stay in the discussion.
