Model and popular actress Mehjabeen Chowdhury surrendered to the court after an arrest warrant was issued. On Sunday (November 16) evening, the court granted her bail after she surrendered and applied for bail at the Executive Magistrate Court-3 in Dhaka.

Earlier, on the same day, news came out that a judge of the Executive Magistrate Court-3 in Dhaka had issued an arrest warrant against actress Mehjabeen Chowdhury and her brother Alisan Chowdhury.

Judge Afroza Tania of the Executive Magistrate Court-3 in Dhaka recently issued an arrest warrant against them in a case filed against them for taking Tk 2.7 million on the promise of making them partners in a family business, embezzling it, and also for intimidation and threats.

According to court sources on Sunday, on November 10, as the accused did not appear on the scheduled date of the case, Judge Afroza Tania of Executive Magistrate Court-3 issued an arrest warrant against Mehjabeen and her brother. At the same time, December 18 has been fixed for submitting the Tamil report regarding the arrest.

The complaint states that Mehjabeen, taking advantage of her long-standing acquaintance with the plaintiff Amirul Islam, offered various temptations to make him a partner in a new family business. On this promise, the actress and her brother took a total of 2.7 million taka at different times through Nagad and bKash. But they did not start any business activities for a long time. When they tried to ask for the money owed, they delayed it on various pretexts.

The complaint further states that when the plaintiff tried to ask for the money back on February 11 of this year, he was asked to meet at a restaurant near Hatirjheel Road on March 16. When he went there that day, Mehjabeen, his brother and a few others abused him in inaudible language. They also threatened to kill him if he asked for money again in front of his house. The plaintiff was extremely frightened by this.

After the incident, when the plaintiff went to Bhatara police station, the police station advised him to file a case in court. Later, Amirul Islam filed a case in the Executive Magistrate's Court under Section 107/117(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
