Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until US meets conditions: Iran

The Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important oil route that passes through Iran, is not opening right now. Iran has made it clear that it will continue to block the sea route until the United States fully accepts its previous promises and conditions. 

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made the announcement in strong language while standing in the country's National Assembly on Sunday (September 20). He said that a clear message has been sent to the United States through other countries. Therefore, there is no chance of opening this path until their demands are met.

Iranian media reported that Speaker Ghalibaf told the meeting that the enemy side knows very well that there is no time for unilateral moves. As long as the legitimate rights of the Iranian people are recognized and the US keeps its promise of the June agreement, the path to opening the waterway or resuming any negotiations will be completely closed.

The conflict began when the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28 of this year. In response, Iran attacked American military bases in the Middle East and closed the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil route. 

In the meantime, an agreement was reached in June to end the war between the two countries and reopen the waterway. But the agreement fell apart after disagreements over how ships would navigate the route and who would be responsible for security. As a result, the closure of this important sea route has sparked renewed tensions throughout the Middle East.
