Oil prices will fall below $2 if war ends: Trump

President Donald Trump has predicted that oil and gasoline prices in the United States will fall rapidly if the war with Iran ends. He claimed that at one point the price of gasoline could drop below $2 per gallon. Samaa TV reports.

Trump made this claim in a post on his social media account Truth Social on Monday (September 7) local time. 

He said oil prices would fall "rapidly" once the war with Iran ends and market conditions return to normal.

Regarding the price of gasoline, he said that it could initially drop to $3 per gallon and eventually go below $2.

According to Trump, the current increase in fuel prices is due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He also commented that the situation will change quickly after the United States wins the war.

Trump also said that Iran will never be able to build a nuclear weapon.

Trump's comments sent oil prices soaring in the international market. Brent crude prices rose above $97 a barrel on Monday, reaching their highest level in six weeks.

The war between the United States and Iran has been going on since February 28. The Strait of Hormuz has become one of the centers of conflict in recent times.

The United States attacked three Iranian oil tankers last Saturday (September 5). Later, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked three oil tankers and three other ships affiliated with the United States.

The retaliatory attacks have raised concerns that oil supplies from the Middle East could be further disrupted, putting further pressure on already high oil prices.
