The South American side maintained their perfect record in the group, collecting six points from two matches to remain at the top of the standings.

The contest was lively from the outset, with both teams creating chances through swift attacks and counterattacks. However, neither side was able to find the breakthrough in the first half despite several promising opportunities.

For Colombia, James Rodríguez, Luis Díaz and Daniel Muñoz were particularly influential going forward. Muñoz even found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi produced a series of impressive saves to keep his team in the game before halftime. He denied attempts from Rodríguez, Díaz, Johan Mojica and Gustavo Puerta, while DR Congo also threatened on the counter but failed to capitalize. As a result, the teams went into the break locked at 0-0.

Colombia emerged with greater attacking intent after the restart. Díaz had the ball in the net twice during the second half, but one effort was disallowed for a foul and the other for offside.

The decisive moment eventually came through Muñoz, whose goal proved enough to separate the two sides and hand Colombia a valuable 1-0 victory.

The win guarantees Colombia a place in the Round of 32 with six points from two matches. A draw against Portugal national football team in their final group fixture will be enough to secure top spot in Group K. Portugal currently occupy second place with four points from two games.

Despite the defeat, DR Congo national football team still have a chance of progressing. Victory over Uzbekistan national football team in their final group match could see them advance either as runners-up or as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.

The final round of Group K fixtures will take place simultaneously on June 27. DR Congo will face Uzbekistan in Atlanta, while Colombia and Portugal will meet in Miami in a match that could determine the group winner.
