Remittances worth 92,550 crore taka came in three months

Expatriates are playing an important role in keeping Bangladesh's economy running. The country's economy is going to build a strong foundation by relying on the remittances they send. Bangladesh is showing a glimpse of expatriate income. In the first three months of the current fiscal year, July-September, Bangladeshi expatriates sent foreign money equivalent to 7.58 billion US dollars (7.58 billion). The amount in local currency is 92,550 crore taka (based on 122 taka per dollar).
This remittance is about 16 percent more than the same period of the last fiscal year. Previously, remittances came in 6.54 billion US dollars in the first three months of the 2024-25 fiscal year.
This information was revealed in the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (October 5).
According to Bangladesh Bank data, in the last month of the current (2025-26) fiscal year, in September, expatriate Bangladeshis sent remittances of 2.68 billion US dollars, which is 32,756 billion taka in Bangladeshi currency. Before that, in August, expatriates sent 2.42 billion US dollars, which is 29,548 billion taka in Bangladeshi currency. In July, the first month of the current fiscal year, 2.48 billion US dollars in remittances came, which is about 30,230 billion taka in Bangladeshi currency.
A record amount of remittances came to the country in the last fiscal year 2024-25. According to the latest data from the central bank, 30.33 billion US dollars in remittances came to the country at the end of the 2024-25 fiscal year, which is about 27 percent more than the previous fiscal year.
