Bangladesh-Pakistan Air Force Chiefs Meet to Discuss State-of-the-Art Fighter Jets

Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan met Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu in Islamabad.
A meeting was held between the air chiefs of Bangladesh and Pakistan in Islamabad. The possibility of procuring JF-17 Thunder fighter jets was discussed in detail in the meeting, according to the Pakistan Military Public Relations (ISPR).
An ISPR statement said that Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan met Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu in Islamabad on Tuesday (January 6). During this time, strengthening mutual cooperation, training and capacity building between the air forces of the two countries gained importance.
The statement further said that the meeting discussed in detail the possibility of acquiring JF-17 Thunder fighter jets. The visiting Bangladesh Air Force Chief was formally presented with a guard of honour. The ISPR said that the meeting emphasized on enhancing operational cooperation and institutional coordination. In addition, issues of training, capacity building and joint cooperation in the aerospace and space sectors came up for discussion.
The Pakistan Air Force Chief briefed his Bangladeshi counterpart on the recent progress of the Pakistan Air Force. He reiterated his commitment to provide comprehensive training support at various levels, including basic to advanced flying and specialized courses. At the same time, he assured of speedy delivery of Super Mushshak training aircraft and provided long-term training and support framework.
The ISPR said that the Bangladesh Air Force Chief appreciated the combat experience and operational efficiency of the Pakistan Air Force. He sought assistance in maintaining the old aircraft fleet of the Bangladesh Air Force and cooperation in integrating the Air Defense Radar System to enhance air surveillance capabilities.
As part of the visit, the Bangladesh delegation visited several important installations of the Pakistan Air Force, including the National ISR and Integrated Air Operations Center, PAF Cyber Command, and the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park. The statement concluded by saying that the visit reflects the existing historical relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh and is an expression of the joint commitment to deepen defense cooperation and build a long-term strategic partnership.
