Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written an open letter to the people of West Bengal. In it, he has severely attacked the state's ruling party and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He has made several allegations against the state government, highlighting fake voters, illegal infiltration, appeasement politics, employment crisis and women's safety issues. At the same time, Modi has also assured religious refugees about the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA.
According to BJP sources, this letter is being delivered door to door in different parts of the state under the Griha Sampak Abhiyan program. In this campaign, which started in early February, party workers are directly communicating with the common people. The open letter written by the Prime Minister is being distributed as part of that program.
At the beginning of the letter, the Prime Minister directly addressed the people of West Bengal. He wrote that the upcoming elections will determine the future of the next generation.
Urging the voters to make well-considered decisions, he mentioned various development projects of the central government. He claims that West Bengal was a pioneer in domestic economy and industry for a long time after independence. But the state has fallen behind due to mismanagement and appeasement politics under the current administration.
In the letter, Modi expressed concern over the lack of employment. He mentioned that due to lack of job opportunities, the youth is migrating to other states. There is also a shortage of heavy industries and a crisis of permanent government jobs. The BJP has been attacking the state government on this issue for a long time.
The head of the Hindutva BJP-led government has also spoken out on the issue of women's safety. He claimed that mothers and sisters in the state are suffering from insecurity, without mentioning any specific incident.
Modi also attacked in strong language on the issue of fake voters and illegal infiltration. He claims that today, Sonar Bangla is immersed in the darkness of anarchy and under the sway of fake voters.
He said that the entire India is concerned about the situation in West Bengal. If the BJP comes to power, the problems will be resolved. If the BJP gets the opportunity, religious refugees will get citizenship through the CAA.
According to political observers, Modi has focused his attention on the vote bank of the Matua community in particular through this message. The head of the central government has also mentioned the names of Bengali scholars in the open letter.
He recalled Swami Vivekananda, Rishi Aurobindo, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Rabindranath Tagore. Comparing the Bengal of their ideals with the current situation, he said that the BJP wants to move forward with the goal of building a fearless society free from corruption and misrule.
Recently, there was a controversy over Modi's address to the names of Bengali scholars. Despite this, he has again mentioned the personalities of Bengali pride in the letter. According to political circles, this has also tried to connect with Bengali emotions. This letter by the Prime Minister is being seen as an important part of the BJP's election campaign. He has clarified the position of the central leadership by directly addressing the people of the state.
On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress has not yet given an official response. However, party sources have indicated that this letter is being seen as a political ploy.
All in all, the Prime Minister's open letter has added a new dimension to the politics of West Bengal ahead of the assembly elections.
