Denmark and Greenland authorities have directly rejected US President Donald Trump's proposal to send a huge floating hospital to Greenland.

In a recent post on the social media platform 'Truth Social', Trump claimed that the people of Greenland are sick and they are not getting the necessary medical care. Therefore, with the help of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, he is sending an advanced medical ship to the island. He even claimed that the ship has already departed.

In response to Trump's proposal, Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen wrote on Facebook, 'This proposal is rejected with gratitude from our side.' He clarified that Greenland has a public health system where citizens are treated free of charge.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also opposed Trump's claim, saying that they live in a country where every citizen has the right to equal and free medical care, not insurance or wealth.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that the necessary medical care for the people of Greenland is possible there, and if they need specialized treatment, they are brought to Denmark. He called Trump's actions a "new normal" or whimsical behavior in current international politics.

Currently, Greenland has six hospitals for less than 60,000 people. In addition, a new agreement was recently signed with Copenhagen regarding advanced medical care for the island.

Since returning to his second term as president, Donald Trump has been keen to occupy or control the mineral-rich and strategically important Greenland. Danish and Greenlandic authorities believe that the offer of medical assistance is actually just a pretext for US dominance over the island. Earlier, Danish King Frederick also visited Greenland to convey a message of unity.

All in all, this floating hospital issue has created new tensions in US diplomatic relations with NATO allies.
