Iran pledges to strengthen ties with Saudi Arabia

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran is committed to further strengthening bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia. He stressed that Iran is working towards a strong region where there will be no interference from outside forces.
Araghchi made these remarks in a meeting with Saudi Deputy Foreign Secretary Walid al-Kharazi and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Dewu in Tehran on Tuesday (December 9) evening. Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi chaired the trilateral meeting.
In the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for China's constructive approach to regional issues in West Asia. He also expressed Iran's commitment to strengthening relations with neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia, based on the good-neighborly policy. In this context, he stressed the upward trend in relations between Tehran and Riyadh in various areas of mutual interest and the need to increase consultations between the two countries, especially at the foreign ministerial level.
Araghchi said that China's role in strengthening international peace and stability, safeguarding multilateralism and the rule of law is very important. He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran and China are determined to use all possibilities to expand bilateral relations.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said that cooperation between all countries is necessary to maintain regional stability and permanent security. He said that Iran wants a strong and stable region free from the destructive interference of some external forces in the region.
