Donald Trump does not want to take the path of military action against Iran. However, he wants to impose a 'new war' on the country. The US president said that he will maintain a state of war by increasing economic pressure on Tehran.

In an interview with the US media Axios, Trump said that instead of taking new military action against Tehran, Washington has adopted a strategy of allowing the country's economic crisis to deepen.

Just a week ago, Trump had spoken of launching a major military operation against Iran. However, this time he did not make any new military threats. At the same time, he did not show public anger over the delay in the agreement between Iran and Oman on the resumption of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said, we are not bringing this issue up too much. We are only partially discussing it with them. We are observing Iran's massive inflation and financial crisis.

The US president claims that Iran's economic situation is very bad and the country does not have enough money to pay its soldiers. According to him, the US naval blockade has exacerbated Iran's economic crisis.

Meanwhile, talks are underway between the US, Iran and Oman on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but no final agreement has been reached. Iran has also put forward new conditions for allowing ships to pass through.

However, Trump claimed that the pressure on US consumers due to the war is relatively low as crude oil prices in the international market are slightly above $75 per barrel.

Explaining his current strategy on the Iran issue, Trump said, "Everything will be fine. It's like a game of chess."
