Democrat Senator Chris Murphy has commented that US President Donald Trump has lost the war with Iran. He claims that the longer the war goes on, the weaker the US is and the stronger Iran is.
In an interview with NBC on Sunday (August 9) local time, Murphy said, “America is getting weaker, Iran is getting stronger.”
He said that he would support a “bad deal” if necessary to stop the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He said that the price of reopening the Strait of Hormuz is also increasing day by day as negotiations have stalled.
According to a report by The Washington Times, Iran has demanded war reparations, the lifting of US sanctions and an end to US military operations.
Murphy said, “The war needs to end quickly. Because if the war continues every day, the US will become weaker, Iran will become stronger and the ordinary people of the United States will have to pay the price.” He also commented that the prices of various goods in the country are increasing gradually due to the war.
Murphy also said he would oppose additional funding to continue the war, but would support funding to replenish the US stockpile of weapons and ammunition after the war ends.
