A man attempted suicide after killing two girls in a five-star hotel in Bengaluru, India. The two children who died were aged 10 and 5.
Police said that 40-year-old SG Imran was rescued from the hotel toilet in a seriously injured condition. He had a sharp weapon wound to his neck. Hotel security personnel rescued him and admitted him to the hospital. His condition is critical.
According to the police, Imran checked into the hotel with his two girls on Sunday (August 9) evening. The next day, around 4 pm, the hotel's cleaning staff went to the room and knocked on the door but did not receive any response.
Later, when the door was opened, the bodies of the two children were found lying on the bed. Imran was found seriously injured nearby. Initial police investigations suggest that Imran tried to commit suicide after strangling the two girls.
Police sources claim that Imran suspected his wife of having an affair. In his initial statement to the police, he is said to have mentioned this suspicion as the reason for killing his children.
However, the police say that it is not certain whether this was the actual reason for the murder until the investigation is completed. Bengaluru Police Deputy Commissioner GK Mithun Kumar said that Imran himself has confessed to killing the two girls. A murder case has been registered against him and an investigation has been started.
The police are trying to find out the real reason and the sequence of events by talking to his family members.
