During a conversation with reporters on Air Force One, US President Donald Trump explained the reason why the Iranian people are not taking to the streets. He commented that Iranians are currently under the rule of a 'terrorist' leadership, which is carrying out a severe crackdown on protesters.

According to Trump, the Iranian leadership has already announced that anyone who protests will be shot. And he believes that this fear of death is why ordinary people are not able to take to the streets.

Earlier, after the start of the military operation targeting Iran, Trump called on ordinary people in the country to take to the streets and overthrow the current government. However, when asked why the expected mass uprising is not happening, he expressed sympathy for the silence of the Iranians. He directly said, I completely understand why they are not doing it (protesting).

In the interview, a journalist asked Trump whether he was ready to declare himself the winner. In response, Trump said, "No, I don't want to do that right now and I don't need to. But I can say that they (Iran) are destroyed."

His comments make it clear that he sees Iran's internal and economic collapse as his strategic success rather than direct war.
