US President Donald Trump wants to know why Iran has not surrendered despite intense pressure from the United States. He asked Trump's question to US special envoy Steve Witkoff.
In an interview with Fox News, Witkoff said that the president is curious why Iran is not announcing 'surrender' or surrendering, even though the United States has deployed significant naval and maritime forces in the region. Washington's goal is for Iran to officially declare that it does not want nuclear weapons and outline steps to prove it.
On the other hand, after the meeting in Geneva on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the two sides had agreed on 'guiding principles'. However, the White House said that major differences still remain on important issues.
An official said that Iran could submit a written proposal in the next few days. Araghchi said Tehran will also soon present a draft counter-proposal.
The Times of Israel reports.
