Donald Trump’s letter congratulating Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

US President Donald J. Trump has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on assuming office as the 11th Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The congratulatory letter was written to Tarique Rahman on Wednesday (February 18). The letter expressed the best wishes and success to the Prime Minister on behalf of the American people in this historic victory.

The letter said that the partnership between the United States and Bangladesh is based on mutual respect and the shared interest of ensuring the prosperity of strong and sovereign nations in a free and open Indo-Pacific region. It is hoped that the trade relations between the two countries will further advance under the leadership of the newly elected Prime Minister.

The letter also mentioned the expectation that farmers and workers will benefit from the implementation of mutual trade agreements. In addition, importance was also placed on ensuring access to high-quality American equipment for the Bangladeshi military by concluding regular defense agreements.

The letter concluded with the expectation that the US-Bangladesh relationship will be stronger than ever before. It was also stated that there is full confidence in the US ambassador to Bangladesh.
