In the 10-minute, 44-second video, Iranian media identified the young man as Pourya Hamidi. The purpose of his appeal to Trump was to draw attention to the severe repression of protests in Iran and call for foreign intervention against the country's leadership. "When you see this, I am no longer around you," Hamidi, a resident of Bushehr, Iran, said in a video that went viral on social media. In the video posted on his YouTube channel 'PorY X' on February 5, he said, "More people have died, more massacres have been committed, than in the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Palestine war. Hamidi captioned his video, “This is my sacrifice - please, liberate my country.”
In the video, recorded in English, Hamidi directly addressed the US leadership, asking them to refrain from making any deal with the regime of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He said that doing so would be a betrayal of all those who have died in the protests. “So, I beg you, do everything you can to stop this deal.” He said that US President Trump told Iranians to “continue to protest, and we did, we trust him.” But Hamidi added that fighting armed people is not possible and Iranians will not be able to win against the current regime without outside support.
“America attacking Iran is our only hope now,” Hamidi said. Because we cannot fight this current regime alone. Our people need foreign intervention.
Hamidi explained the purpose of the video, the meaning of his life, and said that he hopes Iranians will support each other. As the recording ended, he began speaking in Persian, saying, "We Iranians are alone and we have no one, so please support each other. Long live Iran." According to Iran International Report. Iran has recently witnessed massive protests. Initially sparked by an economic crisis, the protests turned violent due to government repression. Thousands of people have been killed in the protests. Hamidi's death comes as Iran has taken tougher measures following recent protests. Tehran and Washington have also recently resumed nuclear talks.
