Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has arrived in Oman for talks between Tehran and Washington on the nuclear program. Iranian state media reported the information.

The state-run IRNA news agency reported on Tuesday (February 10) that Larijani, a close adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is scheduled to meet with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, the main mediator in the talks, as well as Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said.

The report added that the agenda of Larijani's visit to Muscat includes discussions on the latest regional and international developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Iran and Oman. Oman hosted the talks on Iran's nuclear program last week to avoid a conflict between Tehran and Washington.

This was the result of concerted diplomatic efforts in the region to avoid conflict. A second round of talks is then due to begin. The second round of talks has been confirmed, but no date has been announced.

On Tuesday, IRNA reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke to his counterparts in Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia several times by phone. They spoke to update them on the latest developments in indirect talks with Washington in Muscat.
