Barcelona’s pre-season in Asia went well — and they carried that form back to Spain. In the Joan Gamper Trophy, the Catalans completely dismantled Italian side Como, cruising to a 5–0 victory under coach Hansi Flick. With that result, Barcelona finished their pre-season with a perfect record.
The match began with high intensity, as both sides created chances in the first 15 minutes but failed to score. The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Fermín López intercepted a poor pass from Como and unleashed a long-range strike into the net, putting Barcelona 1–0 ahead.
In the 35th minute, Fermín struck again. Receiving a quick cut-back pass from Frenkie de Jong, he fired a superb shot from outside the box into the top corner. Just two minutes later, Fermín set up Marcus Rashford, who dribbled past defenders before squaring the ball to Raphinha for an easy finish.
In the 42nd minute, Raphinha dispossessed an opponent and passed to Lamine Yamal, who tapped the ball into an empty net to make it 4–0. Rashford had a chance to make it 5–0 before halftime but missed with the goal wide open.
Just four minutes into the second half, Yamal scored again — this time with a trademark low strike into the bottom corner — making it 5–0. Later, Ferran Torres missed an open goal. After the 60-minute mark, Barcelona eased their pressure, allowing Como a few half-chances, but none were threatening.
In the closing stages, Flick brought on several young and reserve players. At the final whistle, Barcelona lifted the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Fermín was named man of the match, showing he is ready to compete for a starting role alongside stars like Dani Olmo.
With Robert Lewandowski absent, Rashford led the line from the start. Although he missed a golden chance, his assist for Raphinha was his standout moment. Goalkeeper Joan García made a few early saves but was largely untroubled thereafter.
Barcelona ended pre-season with four wins from four matches. They will now face Mallorca away in their La Liga opener on Saturday. Como will begin their season in the Coppa Italia.
