Buttler sets new world record

England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has set a new record in T20 cricket. He has surpassed former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard to become the highest run-scorer in the history of this format.

Buttler achieved this feat while playing for Manchester Super Giants against Welsh Fire in The Hundred Tournament. He played a stormy innings of 51 not out in just 20 balls in the match. His innings included 2 fours and 6 sixes. In addition to leading the team to victory with this brilliant batting, he also touched a new milestone personally.

Before the match, Buttler had 14,782 runs in his T20 career. He needed only 22 runs to surpass Pollard's 14,803 runs. He easily surpassed that target and at the end of the innings his total runs stood at 14,833.

Butler's achievement is even more special because he set the record in fewer innings. While Pollard scored 14,803 runs in 663 innings, Butler reached 14,833 runs in just 492 innings. That is, he achieved this record by playing 171 innings less.

The crown of the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket has changed hands several times before. Caribbean legend Chris Gayle was at the top of this list for a long time. Later, Kieron Pollard took over that position. Now, Butler has broken that record and created new history.
