UEFA issues legal notice to FIFA over World Cup dividend controversy

European football's governing body UEFA has taken strict legal action against Gianni Infantino, president of world football's governing body FIFA, after a controversial plan collapsed.

The trouble started with Infantino's secret plan. He planned to sell a large portion of future World Cup dividends to private investors and raise $4.2 billion. In return, FIFA member countries were offered a one-time payment of $20 million.

But as soon as this plan became known, a storm erupted in the football world. European countries, including UEFA, strongly protested against it and threatened to boycott all FIFA tournaments if the plan was not canceled.

Under pressure, Infantino was finally forced to withdraw from the controversial plan. However, this is not the end; UEFA has sent FIFA a formal legal letter or 'preservation letter'. The letter means that FIFA must carefully preserve all their information, documents and messages or emails, because UEFA is seriously considering legal action or arbitration against FIFA and 18 top officials, including Infantino, in this incident.

After this incident, Infantino's power has also become shaky. FIFA's presidential election is scheduled to be held next March. UEFA has now started looking for a suitable alternative candidate to fight against Infantino, which has put Infantino's long 10-year reign in a major crisis.
