He was a member of Argentina's World Cup-winning team in 2022. But Paulo Dybala did not get a place in the Albiceleste squad this season. Amid the regret of not being able to play in the 2026 World Cup, the Argentine forward received great good news. He has renewed his contract with Italian club AS Roma. He is assured of another season in European football.
On Monday (July 13), the club officially announced the signing of a new one-year contract with Dybala. The new contract will significantly reduce the salary of the 32-year-old forward. There is also an automatic extension of the contract for another year. That is, the new contract will run until June 2027, which can be extended until June 2028 if desired.
Dybala joined Roma from another Italian club Juventus in 2022. He has scored 45 goals in 139 matches in all competitions for the club in Serie A. In his debut season, he helped Roma reach the Europa League final. Dybala spent four seasons at Roma. In the meantime, he has become one of the fans' favorite players.
However, Dybala has been battling injuries since last season. He underwent knee surgery last March. Due to which he was out of the field for about four months. Which raised doubts about his future at the club. However, he decided to stay at the club by reducing his salary. As a result of this deal, this Argentine forward is getting the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time for Roma.
Before Roma, he played seven consecutive seasons at Juventus. Dybala reached the final for this club in the 2016-17 season. His team lost 4-1 to Real Madrid in that final in Cardiff, Wales.
