Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Italian tactician stressed that there is no room for error in the knockout stage.

"Anything can happen in knockout football. We have prepared for every possibility, including extra time and penalties," Ancelotti said. "In matches like these, you need not only your legs but also your mind and heart. This is a one-off game—once you're out, there's no way back. Fortunately, my players are intelligent and know how to handle this kind of pressure."

Brazil completed their final training session at Houston's NRG Stadium with a fully fit squad, but Ancelotti refused to reveal his starting lineup. Although reports suggest he could stick with the same XI that defeated Scotland, the veteran coach kept his cards close to his chest.

"I don't want to make your job easier by revealing the lineup," he joked. "The players who are starting already know, so they probably slept much better than their coach."

The biggest boost for Brazil is the continued progress of Neymar, who made his long-awaited return with a brief substitute appearance against Scotland. Ancelotti hinted that the forward could feature for a longer spell against Japan.

"Neymar is improving very quickly," he said. "He is in a much better condition than he was last week. He is definitely ready to play more than 15 minutes now. Exactly when he comes on will depend on how the match unfolds."

Brazil will also be seeking revenge for their most recent meeting with Japan. In an international friendly last October, the Seleção squandered a 2-0 lead and suffered a shock 3-2 defeat after costly mistakes from their goalkeeper and defenders.

The Round of 32 encounter between Brazil and Japan is set to take place later on Monday, with Brazil aiming to avoid another upset and book their place in the next stage of the tournament.
