Two ICC events may be shifted from India to Australia

After Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the IPL, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed uncertainty about moving their T20 World Cup participation to India. Although they requested to move their matches to Sri Lanka citing security concerns, the ICC did not accept the request. As a result, Scotland will participate in the World Cup instead of Bangladesh.
Following Bangladesh's decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a critical approach against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The growing tension between India and Pakistan is also affecting cricket. As a result, the 2029 ICC Champions Trophy and the 2031 ODI World Cup may be shifted to other countries instead of India. Australian newspaper The Age reported that Australia may be in the lead in the race to host these two tournaments. However, no final decision has been taken yet.
India and Pakistan have an agreement with the ICC, under which both countries will not play multi-country competitions in each other's countries. This agreement is valid until 2027. As the situation is complicated, it is believed that this system will be applicable even after 2027.
After Bangladesh did not participate in the World Cup due to the Mustafiz issue, they are also uncertain about their chances of playing in India in the future. At least if there is no bilateral series between India and Bangladesh, it will be difficult for Liton Das' team to come and play in India.
If Pakistan and Bangladesh do not participate in India during the Champions Trophy in India in 2029 and the ODI World Cup in 2031, then the BCCI will either have to organize the tournament in a hybrid model, or shift the entire competition to another country. The ICC does not like this additional travel and cost-related complication.
However, if the tournament is held in India, the ICC's income will also increase. Therefore, many believe that the ICC will not be able to completely remove the competition from India even if it wants to. The final decision is yet to be seen.
