Bangladesh's U-17 BFF academy team also finished runner-up in the Tianyu Liufang Invitational Tournament in Lijiang, China. Bangladesh lost 3-0 to the Wuhan provincial team in the final on Saturday.

Bangladesh fell behind after conceding a goal in the 25th minute of the final. Wuhan scored two more goals in the 56th and 72nd minutes in the second half. Bangladesh had defeated Wuhan 1-0 in the group stage match. Bangladesh had the opportunity to defeat this team again in the final and become the champion. Bangladesh could not score a goal today.

Bangladesh has become the runner-up after a long time in the boys' age-based stage outside South Asia. A decade ago, they became the champion in the plate stage of the Super Mock Cup. This time, however, they played the final of the main event. Along with the runner-up trophy and medal, Bangladesh's Tahsan Khan won the Golden Boot by scoring 6 goals.

The BFF academy team started the tournament by defeating the Chinese Sanyang team 4-0. They then defeated the Sri Lanka Academy team 8-0. Bangladesh lost to Wuhan in the third match but advanced to the quarter-finals as runners-up. After winning the quarter-finals 3-1, Bangladesh advanced to the finals by defeating the Henan School team 4-0 in the semi-finals yesterday.
