Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress has expelled Humayun Kabir for calling for construction of Babri Masjid.

Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress has expelled Humayun Kabir for calling for construction of a new Babri Masjid in India. Kolkata Mayor and Minister Firhad Hakim announced the suspension of Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir in Murshidabad district at a press conference on Thursday (December 4). He said that the party will not have any relationship with Humayun.

Kabir recently got involved in the biggest controversy by targeting the police administration instead of prioritizing the party's opinion on the issue and announcing the construction of Babri Masjid. At the same time, he became somewhat cornered within his own party Trinamool Congress. Although he is adamant about the construction of Babri Masjid.

A few days ago, Kabir had told the media that the foundation stone of the Babri Masjid would be laid in Beldanga, West Bengal on December 6 this year. The mosque would take three years to complete. About two lakh people and 400 dignitaries would be present at the event. However, he had also promised to build the Babri Masjid on December 12, 2024, standing outside the state assembly.

This is not the first time that this MLA has been accused of making comments against his party and the administration on various occasions. The party had also warned him. But the party MLA did not change his mind.

At the press conference, Firhad Hakim said, ‘Kabir is trying to stir up the memory of the Babri demolition by talking about building the Babri Masjid. We think the BJP is behind this. They are doing the politics of Hindu-Muslim division by keeping Humayun in front.’

Firhad also said, ‘If someone builds a mosque somewhere with their own money, they can do it. But the party's MLA chose the date of Solidarity Day (December 6) for the foundation stone laying! Why?' Firhad claims that Humayun is trying to create a riot situation in Bengal. However, Humayun is reluctant to give importance to the party's decision. As soon as he learned of the suspension decision, he announced a new party on December 22.

Humayun's announcement of the construction of the Babri Masjid also created a huge controversy across India. Former Union Minister of India, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior BJP leader Uma Bharti directly threatened, saying, "We will respect mosques built in the name of Uparwala or Islam, but any attempt to build a mosque in the name of Babur will have consequences like the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya." Advising Mamata Banerjee, Uma Bharti said, "Action should be taken against those who talk about building a mosque in the name of Babur."

Standing firm in his position, Humayun Kabir warned the local police administration by holding a press conference two days ago. He said, "I am warning the Murshidabad police administration, don't play with fire." At one point, Kabir threatened Beldanga Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Uttam Garai, saying, "Don't go with Humayun Kabir to take the Panga. I don't care about SDPOs like you. The day I take your collar, there will be no one to untie it. On the 6th, the national highway from Rejinagar to Berhampur will be in my possession."
