The much-anticipated biopic ‘Michael’, based on the life and music of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, has created new box office history around the world. The film has grossed a record $977.4 million worldwide, making it the most successful biopic in film history.

With this, the film broke the previous record held by Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning film ‘Oppenheimer’, which had grossed $975 million worldwide. At the same time, it has also become the highest-grossing film in the history of Lionsgate Studios.

The film tells the incredible story of Michael Jackson’s journey from childhood member of the ‘Jackson Five’ band to becoming the ‘King of Pop’ on the world stage.

The film's production company, Lionsgate, focused on Michael's stage-shaking performances, meticulously recreated concerts, and iconic music videos, which have attracted audiences around the world.

Directed by Anthony Foucault, the film stars Michael Jackson's nephew, Jafar Jackson, in a stellar performance.

Although the film was a record-breaking commercial success, it received mixed reviews from critics.

Variety, a well-known entertainment magazine, noted that the film attempts to present a "sophisticated" or refined version of Michael Jackson's life. In particular, the film's plot ends before the beginning of one of the most controversial chapters in his life—the period of child sexual abuse allegations, which has drawn criticism.

Meanwhile, after taking the theaters by storm, viewers are now getting the chance to watch the film at home. According to a report by international media Rolling Stone, the film has already been released on physical media. Pre-orders for the film's '4K Ultra HD Blu-ray' version have begun on Amazon.

It is worth noting that 'Michael' was also commercially released in theaters in Ukraine on April 22 as part of its worldwide triumph.
