The popular children’s book and animated series ‘The Magic School Bus’ is now coming as a live-action film. Elizabeth Banks will play the role of the brave and adventurous teacher Miss Frizzle. The film has been acquired by Legendary Entertainment. It will be directed by Rob Letterman, who previously directed the popular film ‘Detective Picasso’. He will also create the initial draft of the film’s story. Scholastic, a children’s book publisher, Elizabeth Banks’ production company Brownstone Productions, Marc Platt Productions and Legendary will jointly produce it.

The Magic School Bus series began in 1986. Author Joanna Cole and illustrator Bruce Degen created the series based on this book. In the story, Miss Frizzle and her students embark on extraordinary educational trips on a magical yellow school bus. The bus can sometimes take the form of a spaceship, sometimes a submarine, or any other form as needed. Due to the popularity of the book, an animated TV series was produced from 1994 to 1997, where Miss Frizzle was voiced by Lily Tomlin. Later, in 2017, Netflix produced a new version of the series, The Magic School Bus Rides Again. Kate McKinnon voiced Miss Frizzle's younger sister. At the same time, Lily Tomlin also returned to her old role. The series aired for three seasons and a total of 30 episodes.

Elizabeth Banks is currently starring in the television series The Miniature Wife. On the other hand, director Rob Letterman also has experience working with Scholastic. He directed the film Gossip Bumps, based on the publishing company's popular book, in 2015, starring Jack Black. The long-running children's series is already generating a lot of interest among fans, especially those who are eagerly awaiting the return of Elizabeth Banks as Miss Frizzle.
